Field Trips For Students

Act One partners with Title 1 schools in Metropolitan Phoenix and Metropolitan Tucson as well as nearby areas that have limited educational arts field trip opportunities. Act One coordinates the field trips with educators/schools/districts and the arts organizations, handling reservations and paying admission costs to the arts venues; coordinating and paying for transportation via district buses or contracted services; providing teaching materials to help prepare for the field trip; and providing books when they complement the field trip. Schools are responsible for a $1 program partnership fee per participant.

In the 2017-2018 school year, Act One has capacity to bring more than 40,000 K-12 grade students from Title 1 schools on educational arts field trips in the Phoenix area and Tucson.

How it Works

We've been hard at work this summer putting together more than 70 educational arts field trip opportunities for Arizona students. The 2017-18 Field Trip Calendar will be available to view beginning Friday, July 21, 2017. Registration for field trips will open on Monday, August 7 at 8 a.m., and we ask that educators use these two weeks to plan your field trip with your fellow teachers and determine which field trips work best for your school.

The Act One Field Trip Process

If you are a teacher or administrator at a Title 1 school and would like to participate in the Act One Field Trip program, click here to download a flyer with instructions. Here's how it works:

1. View the Field Trip Schedule of more than 70 arts performances and museum tours when it becomes available beginning Friday, July 21, 2017. These will be posted on this page. Choose up to three field trips you’re interested in attending with your students. 

2. Fill out the online field trip request form, which will be available on this page beginning at 8 a.m. Monday, August 7, 2017.

3. Act One will contact you with details about your field trip. We coordinate reservations and details with the arts organization, pay the admission cost for your field trip, reimburse district bus expenses and send teaching materials to help you prepare students for the field trip. If your school does not have buses, Act One can schedule transportation.

4. Your school is responsible for preparing students for the field trip, securing permission slips (per your district’s guidelines), reserving district buses and ensuring that students get on the bus. Additionally, schools are responsible for a $1 program partnership fee per field trip participant.

Schools may begin registering for 2017-2018 field trips beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 7, 2017. Registration must be done using the black Register for Field Trips button below.  Please check back to this page or Join Our Email List to received up-to-the-minute information.
