Act One Founder Russ Perlich Honored with Prestigious Piper Trust Encore Career Prize

Act One founder Russ Perlich was honored on Thursday, November 5 with the prestigious Piper Trust Encore Career Prize for an Exceptional Individual at an elegant public celebration event and reception at Tempe Center for the Arts. This is only the second time that Piper Trust awarded its Encore Career Prize to an individual.

The prize recognizes Perlich for applying his decades of business experience to addressing a social need in our community—his vision being to provide high-quality arts field trips for students from Title 1 schools, a vision that was the inspiration for the founding of Act One by Russ and his wife Mac.

“Every day, we get to see the results of Russ and Mac’s passion to bring the arts to children and families who otherwise wouldn’t be able to experience them,” said Geri Wright, executive director of Act One. “It’s a delight to see their dedication celebrated with such a prestigious award.”

The Piper Trust Encore Career Prize for an Exceptional Individual is a $50,000 award designed to recognize and advance the social purpose work of a person who is an inspiring encore role model serving Maricopa County.

As it relates to the Piper Trust Encore Career Prize, social purpose work combines the experience of a person with a cause that he/she is passionate about — a meaningful issue that someone applies years of talent and expertise to, and through this work, a significant difference in the quality of life for others is achieved. The work must be serving a social purpose within Maricopa County and have a track record of impact for a minimum of three years.
